It is the biggest oceanographic aquarium in Europe, with 110.000 square meters and 42 million liters of water. The outside was designed in the form of a water lily by architect Adrián Peláez Coronado, who was born in Valencia. The structural design of the roof was designed by engineers Alberto Domingo and Carlos Lázaro. The planet's main marine ecosystems are all represented. Every building represents one of the following aquatic environment:Mediterranean, Wetlands,Temperate and Tropical Seas, Oceans,Antarctic, Arctic, Islands and the Red Sea. In addition to this there is also the Dolphinarium, with 24 million liters of water and a depth of 10,5 meters. The Access Building, which welcomes visitors, and the Underwater Restaurant stand out because of their spectacular roofs designed by Félix Candela.
